- Title
- The Impact of Digital Gamification on Motivation, Engagement, and Academic Performance in Psychiatric Nursing Education A Randomized Controlled Study
- Summary
- This randomized controlled study examined the effects of digital gamification on motivation, engagement, and academic performance among undergraduate nursing students enrolled in a psychiatric nursing course. Third-year students were randomly assigned to either a gamified learning group or a control group receiving traditional instructional summaries. The intervention consisted of weekly gamified digital learning modules incorporating interactive and scenario-based elements aligned with course objectives. Findings indicated that the gamification group demonstrated greater improvements in intrinsic motivation, task value, self-efficacy, and multidimensional engagement compared to the control group. Academic performance outcomes also favored the gamified approach. Students reported higher satisfaction with the learning process and perceived the gamified materials as supportive of active learning. These results suggest that digital gamification may serve as an effective strategy for enhancing motivation, deepening engagement, and improving learning outcomes in psychiatric nursing education. Future research should explore long-term impacts and broader integration across nursing curricula.
