Biography

Dr. Hans C. Ossebaard works as an Innovation & eHealth advisor at the Dutch national Health Care Institute. Here he seeks to integrate eHealth into quality standards for care, to assess its contribution to ‘appropriate care’ and to support the implementation of effective solutions in digital health. He was a secretary of the national commission on eHealth Implementation and is currently committed to Zorg voor Innoveren, the sign post for care innovators in The Netherlands. He is affiliated with the Centre for eHealth &Wellbeing of the University of Twente where he lectured and published on eHealth and quality of care, public health informatics, implementation, assessment of eHealth technology, ‘One Health’, future health care education, geo-health and risks of eHealth technology (Dept. of Psychology, Health and Technology; Institute for Governance and Innovation). He cooperated with the Kenya Medical Association and the Uganda Medical Association on telemedicine and sustainability. In 2015 he advised Q-support, an independent foundation for care, counselling and research for chronic Q-fever patients. Recently he joined VvAA, the Dutch service organization for health care professionals, to develop learning solutions for upscaling valuable eHealth innovation in health care.

Furthermore he is a member of the Board of NSRII, the Dutch branch of the International Society for Research on Internet Interventions and on the Editorial Board of the International Journal on Advances in Life Sciences. He is Fellow of eTELEMED, IARIA (International Academy, Research and Industry Association) and reviewer of the IMIA Yearbook of Medical Informatics, the International Journal of Healthcare, the International Journal for Quality in Health Care, Bulletin of the WHO, European Journal of Public Health, Health Policy and Technology and other scientific journals.
