PRESENTATION 2019

Let the games begin!

“Experience is your best teacher”. Learning through experience is perhaps the most fundamental way in which we learn about the work around us. The Netherlands Cancer Institute has explored gamification to engage and motivate (healthcare) professionals in their learning process. As a result they have developed the following board games:
• Healthcare dynamics
A game concerning the dynamics between health insurances, pharmacists, government and hospitals in the Netherlands
• Onboarding
An onboarding program that exists of a digital program and a boardgame regarding the patient journey
• Good Clinical Practices
A learning program in which a great deal of legal information is converted into a game

In this workshop you will experience the power of gamification by illustrating the principles behind a game playing. Furthermore, we will elaborate how you develop a game and the lessons learned. We use game attributes to drive player-like behavior resulting in competition and of course a reward!
After this workshop you will learn that a successful game is driven by the power of concept that:
• Captures (and retains) learners’ attention,
• Challenges them,
• Engages and entertains them,
• Teaches them.
